In the 2019 NBA All-Star Game, Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union were spotted conversing with rapper J. Cole—who was scheduled to perform during the halftime show. Their brief interaction resurfaced on X/Twitter last Friday as user Anthony Moore (@AllThatandMoore) highlighted Cole's handshake with Union.

Union quoted Moore's post, and reacted with several laughing and skull emojis.

Considering that Wade was right in front of them when the handshake occurred, Cole looked as if he didn't want the encounter to feel weird for either of them.

Dwyane Wade named his top three hip-hop albums of all time

Wade attended jazz pianist Robert Glasper's Blue Notes Jazz Festival in July 2023, which featured several artists including Nas and Chance the Rapper. Ahead of the festival, the Miami Heat legend was asked to name his top three hip-hop albums of all time during an interview with Billboard's Carl Lamarre.

"Let me go Chicago first. I'm actually gonna go Kanye West, Graduation," Wade said. "... my favorite artist is Jay-Z and it's so hard to pick, but I'm gonna go with — because at the time of my life it was important — 'The Black Album.'

He added:

"I'm trying to think what album of Lil Wayne I would pick. I'm going 'Tha Carter.' ... That's when I was in the Olympics. ..."

Based on his description for each pick, it appeared that the thirteen-time NBA All-Star had a special connection with the albums. He even recalled the time that he listened to Jay-Z's "The Black Album" as the time that he didn't have that much money during his rookie year.

Certain albums have a way of bringing the best out of someone, especially when the experiences and topics discussed are relatable to the listener. As for Wade, the Hall of Famer felt untouchable when he listened to these albums. They also matched his confidence along with his "me against the world" mentality, which he showcased in the league.
