Brandin Podziemski had his best game in the series with 28 points, but it wasn't enough to keep the Warriors' season alive. Jonathan Kuminga scored 26 points off the bench, while Jimmy Butler struggled with his shot again to finish with just 17 points in 42 minutes.

Golden State Warriors vs Minnesota Timberwolves Game 5 Summary

The Golden State Warriors entered Wednesday's Game 5 hoping to stave off elimination. The Warriors played without Steph Curry for the fourth consecutive game due to a hamstring injury.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr didn't make any changes to his starting five of Brandin Podziemski, Buddy Hield, Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green and Trayce Jackson-Davis.

Meanwhile, Timberwolves coach Chris Finch retained his starting lineup featuring Mike Conley, Anthony Edwards, Jaden McDaniels, Julius Randle and Rudy Gobert.

The game was evenly matched early on before the Minnesota Timberwolves took control late in the first quarter. It turned into a lopsided game in the second period as the hosts were relentless on both sides of the ball, though they were outrebounded by the Golden State Warriors.

The Timberwolves maintained their lead in the third quarter. However, the Warriors' bench came alive in the fourth period, led by Moses Moody. They made things interesting by trimming the lead to nine points at the midway point of the quarter.

Anthony Edwards came to the rescue to spark another run and seal the win.
