"He had his Parlay on the Lakers": Fans erupt with hilarious reactions to Will Hardy's brain fade decision that cost Sexton a potential game-winner

Utah Jazz's head coach Will Hardy's brain fade moment cost the Utah Jazz a win over the struggling LA Lakers at the Delta Center on Sunday. In what was a drama-filled final few seconds, Hardy's decision to take a timeout when Collin Sexton almost had a bucket in the bag saw them lose the game 105-104. His blunder was the talking point on social media soon after as fans not just took shots at the Utah HC, but also dished out a few hilarious responses.

Here's a look at Hardy calling a timeout as Sexton barrelled his way to the rim.

One of the fans had a funny take saying Hardy had his parlay on the Purple and Gold.

"He had his parlay on the Lakers"

More responses trickled in. @_Bennysilas seconded:

"Thanks Coach, won my parlay for me"

@blackballed22 added:

"Will hardy had LA moneyline"

@wekeng615 had a theory.

"Will hardy has been questionable all year, especially with Sexton’s role"

The Cooper Flagg discussion wasn't far off as @vinsxn tweeted:

"They’re tanking for Flagg so that timeout was obvious"

@goggledwight believed Sexton could still be blocked by Anthony Davis.

"He probably wouldn't have made it if AD kept playing"

In the end, the LA Lakers managed to hand on to their one-point lead as they blocked the Jazz from getting off one final shot on time. The win saw them improve to 12-8, while the Jazz are 4-16 and have lost four games on the bounce.

"I robbed him of a moment": Will Hardy rues ill-timed call

Speaking to the media in the aftermath of the loss, Will Hardy admitted that he was on the wrong side for his decision to call time-out. He revealed he spoke to Sexton after the game.

"We like to let people go in that situation. When Collin did a retreat dribble backward, I started calling a timeout. It's obviously loud. The hope would have been to have a few more seconds than 2.1. It's hard because you don't know exactly how it would've ended up had they not blown the whistle and everybody kept playing. Maybe Collin would have finished it. I told (Collin) in the locker room I robbed him of a moment at the end of the game."

On the game front, Sexton had 15 points. The Jazz were led by Lauri Markkanen (22 points and seven rebounds) and John Collins (21 points and nine rebounds). They play the OKC Thunder next as part of their Emirates NBA Cup clash at the Paycom Center on Tuesday (Dec. 3).
