Former NBA coach and analyst Stan Van Gundy claimed that Dwayne Wade was the clutch shot taker he has ever seen.

Dwayne Wade retired after a successful 16-year career during which he won the NBA title 3 times. He was selected as the NBA Finals MVP for 2006 and has been an All-Star 13 times, most recently in 2019.

Wade was selected by the Miami Heat as the 5th overall pick of the 2003 NBA draft. He went on to play for the Chicago Bulls and the Cleveland Cavaliers before ending his career with a return to the Miami Heat.

The player was highly effective on both ends of the court and was a three-time member of the All-Defensive Team. He also won two more championships with the Heat in 2012 and 2013, alongside fellow superstars LeBron James and Chris Bosh.

Wade showed a regular knack of hitting the most important shots and came up clutch for his team innumerable times throughout his career. Stan Van Gundy worked with Wade from 2003-2005 at the Miami Heat and recently claimed that Wade was the best last shot guy he had ever seen. He said:

“He’s the best end of the game, last shot guy I’ve ever seen.”

Dwayne Wade showed ability to make clutch shots right until end of NBA career

Dwayne Wade was never the most efficient of scorers, and finished a season with an overall efficiency of above 55% only once in his 16-year career. Still, the player had the knack of coming up with the goods when his team needed it the most.

This was true right from the early years of Wade’s career. Older NBA fans will remember his sensational last second game winner against the then defending champions in the Eastern Conference (2006), the Detroit Pistons. Wade helped his team win after scoring each of their last 17 points, finishing the game with 37 points and 8 rebounds.

The game proved to be crucial as Wade went on to help his team beyond the Pistons in the Eastern Conference Finals. He was then selected as the Finals MVP and by the end, had marked his claim as one of the best young players in the world.

Wade would go on to convert a number of memorable shots throughout his storied career. In his final season for the Miami Heat, he produced another spectacular clutch shot against the Golden State Warriors on February 27th, 2019.

The shot was a testament to his clutch performance, as he buried it off of one leg on a bank, despite numerous fumbles and a broken-looking play
