“He’s going to be one of the best 2-guards in this league” - When Klay Thompson gushed about 19-year-old Devin Booker and predicted his rise to the top

Klay Thompson and Devin Booker had a heated exchange when the two faced off a couple of days ago. However, in a six-year-old video from Team USA's training camp, Thompson was full of praise for Booker, who was 19 at the time. It's funny how the two players who complimented each other years ago are now going at it by talking trash to one another.

Thompson saw huge potential in Booker and claimed that the young star would one day become a top-tier guard in the league:

"First of all, he's only 19 that's unbelievable. To see his growth just in his rookie year, he’s going to be one of the best two-guards in this league."

After hearing what Thompson said, Booker was flattered by his remarks. He responded by saying:

"That's a big statement. Especially coming from one of the top guards in the league right now. That means a lot hearing that from guys like that."

Klay Thompson and Devin Booker have faced off on numerous occasions, but never got into a verbal altercation until now. The heated exchange took place when the Phoenix Suns defeated the Golden State Warriors 134-105 on Oct. 25. Booker had another great game while Thompson struggled on the night.

Considering that both players play at the same position, it was a matchup between Booker and Thompson all night long. Devin Booker led the Suns by putting up 34 points and seven assists.

Klay Thompson, on the other hand, struggled offensively and only scored two points. The altercation began after Thompson deflected Booker's 3-point attempt and started talking trash. It led to Thompson's first career ejection.

Looking at the situation, it was definitely a petty argument that Thompson initiated. He had an underwhelming performance and was aware of it. He decided to make up for it through defense and eventually took out all his frustrations on Booker. Klay shot one-of-eight from the field against the Suns. No wonder he was pissed.
