The Boston Celtics are reportedly listening to offers for two-time NBA champ Jrue Holiday. According to Hardwood Paroxysm, the Cs are looking for a first-round pick and “whatever reduced salary comes back in the deal” to offload Holiday. The combo guard has played a crucial role for the team, but the Celtics’ massive payroll has made him a regular in trade rumors.
Fans promptly reacted to Boston’s reported asking price for Holiday.

Holiday is in the books for $67.2 million over the next two seasons. He has a $37.2 million player option entering the 2027-28 campaign, per Spotrac. The Celtics, $19 million over the punishing second apron, are reportedly looking to trim their payroll. Boston’s asking price, though, maybe too steep considering the former All-Star’s age and drop in form.
Jrue Holiday averaged 12.5 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game during the Celtics' 2024 championship run. He shot 48.0%, including 42.9% from deep, making him a deadly two-way threat.
Last season, Holiday put up 11.1 PPG, 4.3 RPG and 3.9 APG. His shooting numbers dropped to 44.3%, including 35.3% from behind the arc. Opponents regularly left him open to focus on the Celtics’ other elite shooters.
Kristaps Porzingis joins Jrue Holiday in the trade rumor mill
Jrue Holiday isn’t the only key Boston Celtics player in the trade rumor mill. Kristaps Porzingis, on the payroll for $30.7 million next season, becomes an unrestricted free agent following the 2025-26 campaign.
Boston seems intent on shedding salary to avoid the harsh penalties of going over the second apron. Moving Porzingis or Holiday would significantly help Brad Stevens, the team’s president of basketball operations, achieve that goal.
Evan Sidery reported on the latest rumor involving the 7-foot-3 center.
Injuries remain a red flag for Kristaps Porzingis. After playing 57 games when the Cs won the 2024 championship, he played 42 last season. Having another injury-plagued season from Porzingis and paying the debilitating penalties for a second apron team might not be on Stevens’ plans.
Celtics fans have a long summer to speculate where Porzingis and Jrue Holiday could play next season amid consistent trade rumors.
