Anthony Davis is probable to play against the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday. The nine-time NBA All-Star is on the LA Lakers injury report, citing a left plantar fasciitis. It's an injury Davis has been dealing with since last season and has managed through the summer with the Team USA at the Paris Olympics. However, he aggravated that ailment against the Detroit Pistons on Monday in a 115-103 loss after a bad landing on his left leg during the fourth quarter.
Davis was questionable to play in Wednesday's 131-114 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies but was sidelined before tipoff. That doesn't seem to be the case against the 76ers. A probable status means a player is more likely to play than sit. So, unless the Lakers downgrade Davis to questionable or doubtful as we inch closer to tipoff, the 31-year-old should be in action for LA.
It will be crucial for the Lakers to have him on the floor as they are reeling after a 3-0 start. LA went 1-4 on its recent five-game road trip, dropping to 4-4 on the season. Every loss hurts in the stacked Western Conference, and the Lakers can't afford it as they look to avoid the play-in tournament for the third consecutive year.
