Karl-Anthony Towns is expected to suit up against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday. His first game against his former team couldn't have come sooner. The New York Knicks center's trade was in the works on Sept. 27 before it got finalized on Oct. 3.
Towns will hope to produce his best and remind the Timberwolves what they are missing out on as he welcomes his old teammates to his new home at MSG. He's had a solid start to life in New York and will hope to carry on that momentum.
Towns dropped 10 points, four rebounds and two steals in his preseason debut against the Charlotte Hornets on Oct. 6, followed by a 25-point outing against the Washington Wizards on Wednesday. He also had 12 rebounds and two blocks.

Karl-Anthony Towns' workload could be enormous to begin the season
Karl-Anthony Towns enters the 2024-25 NBA season with the New York Knicks with great expectations and an enormous workload to start the year. His deputy Mitchell Robinson, currently out injured, is expected to make his season debut in January. That seemingly increases Towns' workload until then, as he is New York's most reliable option at the five.

Precious Achiuwa and Jericho Sims could play sporadically at best. The Knicks, meanwhile, will be relieved to have gone through with this trade as early as they did. They would have been without a legitimate option at the center position if they stuck with Julius Randle over trading for Towns.
The Knicks will also have the option of slotting their marquee addition to the four once Mitchell Robinson returns. Towns has garnered significant experience playing out of his natural position the past two years after teaming up with Rudy Gobert in Minnesota.
