Kevin Durant during Phoenix Suns v Chicago Bulls

Phoenix Suns fans have been unlucky to not have seen the best of Kevin Durant until now. The former Brooklyn Nets superstar has played only two games for the team, with the Suns emerging winners in both times. Durant has missed time this season due to a knee injury and is still not back to full fitness.

Considering the game against the Dallas Mavericks is the second in back-to-back fixtures, chances are that he is rested for this game as well.

Kevin Durant will be crucial to Phoenix Suns’ hopes in the postseason. The team is comfortably placed in the Western conference at 4th seed and has won 3 of their last 4 games. The Suns can afford to rest Kevin Durant for the time being, especially if the player needs it.

Durant has had a torrid history with injuries in recent years, missing several important playoff games. The Phoenix Suns will be hoping to have their talismanic presence for the postseason as well.

Regardless, the player has not picked up any new injuries and should be fit enough, although much will depend on whether the front office decides to rest him or not.

Kevin Durant is still some way away from full fitness

Durant has not been able to play as much as he would like for the Phoenix Suns. He produced 20 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists in the win against the Chicago Bulls and played for more than 30 minutes. The 34-year old is still getting used to his new teammates and will be delighted with the way the last two games have gone.

While Kevin Durant’s numbers have been impressive, the reason he has not been in the MVP debate is the niggling knee injury that has affected him gametime. If he does take the court, the matchup between the Suns and Mavericks promises to be a thrilling one.

The trio of Chris Paul, Devin Booker, and Durant will face off against the All-Star duo of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. While Durant's status for the game is uncertain, it has been confirmed that Terrence Ross and Landry Shamet will be sitting out.

It looks like the Dallas Mavericks will be able to count on all their major stars except Davis Bertans, who is still out with a calf injury.
