What is LeBron James' Religion? Is he Muslim?

LeBron James is one of the most talked-about NBA superstars worldwide. Details about his personal life have been made available to the public on a large scale.

While we have extensive knowledge of LeBron James' playing style and skills on the basketball court, not all are aware of LeBron James background and upbringing. Especially from a religious perspective. That said, let us take a closer look and find out.

Is LeBron James Muslim? What are his religious beliefs?

James has been respectful towards people from all walks of life. The four-time MVP has avoided controversies, making him one of the greatest athletes off the court. James' religious beliefs aren't talked about much, but it's confirmed that he isn't a Muslim.

The LA Lakers superstar is believed to have faith in Christianity. He was raised in a Christian household growing up with his mother, Gloria James. James had a rough childhood growing up in a single-parent household. Anthony McClelland, LeBron's father, was in prison and didn't come through with any responsibilities towards his only child.

During his time at St. Vincent–St. Mary High School, a Catholic institution in Ohio, LeBron James emerged as a renowned basketball prodigy, earning the moniker "The Chosen One." It was during this period that he solidified his unwavering belief in God.

LeBron James has mentioned the man upstairs on multiple occasions

LeBron's religious beliefs aren't public, but he has mentioned the man upstairs during the ups and downs of his career. He first mentioned God when he lost his first NBA Finals series as a Miami Heat player in 2011.

He formed a superteam that season alongside Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, but the Dallas Mavericks, led by Dirk Nowitzki, caused one of the biggest upsets in NBA Finals history, beating James and Co. in six games. James took to Twitter to express his feelings after the loss, saying:

"The Greater Man upstairs know when it's my time. Right now isn't the time."

He was mocked and received flak for the reasoning behind the Heat's loss. Another time he mentioned god was after helping the Cavaliers win their first NBA title in 2016 as they erased a 3-1 deficit against the 72-9 Warriors team. James said:

"I know why the Man above gave me the hardest road, but the man above don’t put you in situations that you can’t handle.”
