On Tuesday night, Rob Dillingham and the Minnesota Timberwolves are slated to take on the Philadelphia 76ers in Summer League action. Before the action gets underway, here is a dive into the young guard's status.
Dillingham is expected to be in the lineup for the Timberwolves in their third Summer League matchup. They are slated to tip-off against the Sixers at 8 p.m. Eastern Time, and it will be nationally televised on ESPN2.
After being one of the top prospects in college basketball last season, Rob Dillingham finds himself on a different journey than most lottery picks. Typically, guys selected in the top ten wind up on rebuilding teams. However, that isn't the case for the former Kentucky guard.

The San Antonio Spurs originally selected Dillingham with the No. 8 pick. Not long after, they traded his draft rights to the Timberwolves. In exchange, the Spurs received an unprotected first-round pick in 2031 and a top-one protected pick swap in 2030.

How has Rob Dillingham performed in Summer League thus far?
Through his first two Summer League matchups, Rob Dillingham has managed to fill the box score for the Minnesota Timberwolves. That said, one of his performances clearly stands out above the other.
Dillingham made his Summer League debut against the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday. He finished the night with a stat line of four points, five rebounds, five assists and one steal.
Two days later, Rob Dillingham was back in action. This time, taking on the Indiana Pacers. Having a taste of Summer League experience under his belt this time around, he upped his production in a big way.
In the matchup against the Pacers, Dillingham looked like a top-10 pick in his draft class. Along with showing off his scoring prowess, he proved he can be a reliable playmaker as well. Dillingham finished his last outing with a box score of 14 points, two rebounds, eight assists and two steals.
On Tuesday night, Dillingham will have a tough test in front of him against the Philadelphia 76ers. He'll be squaring off against another guard who was selected in the first round of the draft, Jared McCain. As a hard-nosed defender at the point of attack, the Sixers prospect will likely be tasked with guarding Dillingham.
Prior to being drafted in the lottery, Dillingham showcased his skills in a reserve role at Kentucky. In 32 games off the bench as a freshman, he averaged 15.2 points and 3.9 assists while shooting 44% from beyond the arc.
