Is Steph Curry playing tonight against Mavericks? Latest injury update on Warriors’ star ahead of matchup (22nd March 2023)

Golden State Warriors v Houston Rockets
Is Steph Curry playing against the Dallas Mavericks?

Steph Curry was almost sidelined again after a scary incident with teammate Jordan Poole. The two-time MVP got his ankle caught under Poole after hitting the ground following a layup attempt.

Steph Curry was able to finish the game, and the collision doesn't seem to be an issue. His name is not on the injury report for the matchup against the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday night.

Golden State Warriors fans held their breath on Monday after Curry hobbled to the bench. The nine-time All-Star is fresh off missing 11 games because of injury and has an extensive history of ankle problems. Luckily for them, he was able to avoid disaster.

Following the collision with Jordan Poole, Curry came up big for the Warriors against the Rockets. He ended the game with 30 points, seven rebounds and five assists in a 13-point victory.

Since Golden State didn't even bother making him a game-time decision, it seems apparent that he is good to go moving forward.

The Golden State Warriors cannot afford to lose Steph Curry again

It goes without saying, but the Golden State Warriors are not in a position to be without Steph Curry again. The playoffs are right around the corner, and the sharpshooting guard has already made multiple stints on the sidelines.

The Warriors really need Curry in their matchup against the Dallas Mavericks Wednesday as it holds a lot of weight. Currently, the Mavericks are only half a game behind Golden State in the standings. With the Western Conference standings being so tight, every game down the stretch matters.

Golden State is sitting in a good position right now, but they have little margin for error. Teams like the Mavericks, OKC Thunder and LA Lakers are all within striking distance of climbing up a couple spots. One bad week could be the difference between being safe and having to work your way through the play-in tournament.

If Curry can stay on the floor, the Warriors should be able to hold on to the sixth seed. At 35 years old, he is still one of the most dynamic players in the league this season. In the 47 games he's played in, he's averaging 29.8 points, 6.2 rebounds and 6.2 assists.

Fresh off winning the NBA title last season, Golden State is not looking to roll over yet. When at full strength, they feel they are capable of adding another championship to their dynasty.
