Who is Toriah Lachell?
Toriah Lachell is the ex-girlfriend of NBA star Jayson Tatum. The pair met in high school and began dating. Lachell was an athlete herself, playing varsity soccer for four years. Additionally, she spent two years each playing junior varsity and varsity softball.
Lachell was born in St. Louis, Missouri and is 22 years old. She moved to Boston in 2018 and opened The Curl Bar Boston, a hair salon.
Lachell is the mother of Tatum's four-year-old son Jayson Tatum Jr., also known as Deuce Tatum. The two-time All NBA Team member revealed his initial reaction to finding out Lachell was pregnant.
During a recent appearance on In Depth with Graham Bensinger, Tatum shared that he was not initially receptive to the news. He was attending Duke University and focused on preparing for the NBA Draft. He hid the news of his girlpregnancy pregnacy, afraid it would affect his draft position:
"I was selfish at first, honestly. I was more worried about getting drafted than I was about being a Dad. My whole life I had dreamed about going to the NBA and the best day of my life was two months away. I didn't tell anybody. I didn't tell my teammates, the coaches."
"I didn't want it to impact where I got drafted. I thought that if teams knew ... they were gonna think I wasn't focused and that they wouldn't pick me. So I was terrified. I didn't want anybody to know which was extremely selfish."
While Tatum initially hid Lachell's pregnancy, the 2022 Eastern Conference Finals MVP says he has embraced fatherhood.
What happened to Toriah Lachell's relationship with Jayson Tatum?
While the reason is unclear, Toriah Lachell is no longer with Jayson Tatum. The pair, however, remain active co-parents in Deuce Tatum's life. As Tatum progresses towards becoming an NBA superstar, his ex-girlfriend's online business is reportedly thriving. It is unclear if Lachell is currently dating anyone. Tatum is rumored to be dating British R&B singer Ella Mai.
