Victor Wembanyama is set to make his official NBA debut on October 25. At the time of writing, the 7-foot-4 star is expected to suit up against the Dallas Mavericks.

Wembanyama impressed when on the court throughout the preseason. He averaged 19.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.8 blocks and 1.5 assists in four games. He shot 50.9% from the field and 31.8% from 3-point range. The Spurs will be hoping their star talent can make a similar impact during the regular season as they look to develop his overall game.

Like most teams, the Mavericks are expected to struggle with Wembanyama's size. Furthermore, the big man's unique skillset will likely pose the Mavericks some problems. Wembanyama can attack off the dribble, off the catch, or in the low post. However, it will be interesting to see how he navigates the physicality of an NBA game.

Nevertheless, NBA fans will be hotly anticipating Wembanyama's debut. The fact that the first-overall pick could face off against Luka Doncic in the opening game is another reason to be excited about the upcoming contest.

Luka Doncic is excited about Victor Wembanyama

When speaking to ESPN's Tim MacMahon, Luka Doncic had high praise for Victor Wembanyama. Doncic's comments came 24 hours ahead of his season opener against the star rookie.

"It's pretty crazy what he does on the court," Doncic said. "What's he -- 2 meters [tall]? Oh, 7-4? No, the things he does for that length, it's unbelievable the way he moves, the way he handles the ball, shoots the ball, and obviously the blocking. So, I've been watching, and he's an amazing player."

The Mavericks have Doncic listed as questionable for the contest against the San Antonio Spurs. As such, there's no guarantee he will participate in the season opener. However, should he take to the court, we will witness a fantastic matchup between two of the best European talents in the world.

Wembanyama put together an impressive highlight reel of blocks during the preseason. Doncic and Kyrie Irving will need to be cautious when letting it fly. Otherwise, they could end up on the wrong side of a viral highlight in the coming days.

San Antonio will likely manage Wembanyama's minutes to begin the season. It's unlikely he plays a significant amount in the opening game. Gregg Popovich will want to develop the star rookie slowly. However, as we saw in preseason, Wembanyama doesn't need long to make a major impact.
