Parting with the New York Knicks has allowed Cam Reddish to find his rhythm on the floor once again. After suiting up for 20 games with the Knicks this season, he was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers, where he has since found success.

After struggling for much of the season in New York, Reddish is thriving in March, despite the fact that the Trail Blazers continue to sit outside of postseason contention.

During a recent interview with the New York Daily News, Reddish spoke about his frustrations during his time with the Knicks. Reflecting on his time with the franchise, the 23-year-old said that there was a lot more going on other than basketball.

“It was tough but at the same time, it ain’t even about basketball. It had nothing to do with basketball. It was all the politics, all the favoritism. S--t like that. That’s why I wasn’t too worried about it.”

Fortunately for him, Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups believes Cam Reddish is an even better player than he suspected prior to the trade. With injuries striking the Trail Blazers, Reddish has found his way into the starting lineup, where he has continued to impress of late.

For Cam Reddish, the move to Portland has allowed him to silence many of his biggest critics. After having an impressive rookie year with the Atlanta Hawks, Reddish was traded to the New York Knicks before the halfway mark of his junior year.

In 15 games in New York during the 2021-22 season and 20 in the 2022-23 season before being traded, his output dropped considerably. The double-digit scoring average from his time with the Hawks dropped off along with a decrease in minutes.

Although he has only played in a dozen games for the Trail Blazers, his numbers have immediately improved. Currently, he is averaging 13.8 points per game on 46.4% from the field, while averaging a career-best 38.2% from beyond the arc.

He's also averaging a career-high 2.7 assists per game and a career-high 1.4 steals per game. Despite Reddish's output, the Portland Trail Blazers have continued to struggle this season.

At the time of publication, the team was sitting in 13th place in a stacked Western Conference. However, there is still hope for Portland heading into the final stretch of the season. The Western Conference playoff picture currently sees the Trail Blazers just one game out of Play-In Tournament contention.
