Charles Barkley believes that Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks won't win an NBA title with the way the team is currently constructed. While it's tough to argue, Barkley makes some good points about the Mavs' shortcomings.

During a recent episode of TNT's NBA Show, Barkley spoke about Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks.

“[The Mavs] are never going to win a championship the way they play right now because it’s all Luka, all the time.”

While there are various ways to look at Luka Doncic winning the title in Dallas, there's no debate that Mark Cuban needs to do a better job of building a more competitive roster around the superstar.

Luka Doncic wants to win a championship with the Mavericks

In today's NBA world, the most important part about winning a championship is keeping the stars of the team happy. While many believe that Luka Doncic is going to grow frustrated, he recently told fans that he wants to win a championship in Dallas.

"I don't think they [should] worry about it. I have five years left here so I don't think they should be worried about it," the player told WFAA's Joe Trahan in an interview.
"That's everything," Luka said about wanting to win the Larry O'Brien Trophy with the Mavs. "Everybody wants to win the championship. I want to win the championship here. It's our goal. It's the same every season. It's a lot of work to do.
"There are so many great teams in the league. Anybody can beat you at this point. You have to be really ready."

Who can the Mavericks add to win a championship?

Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks might need another piece to win the NBA title. Jalen Brunson decided to leave the team in free agency a season ago and join the New York Knicks. Dallas also decided to trade Kristaps Porzingis at the NBA trade deadline.

There's a good argument to be made that those are the two best players that Doncic has played with in his career. Trading them didn't make much sense according to most, so what is Dallas going to do?

Dallas decided to sign Kemba Walker on Monday, adding a veteran guard to their roster. Kemba likely won't be the guy to make or break a championship run, but if he can give Dallas good minutes during his time off the bench, it could be a smart signing. Luka Doncic needs to play fewer minutes if they want him fresh for the playoffs and Walker can help.

Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks proved a season ago that if he is at his best, they can beat anyone in basketball. That was evident during their series against the Phoenix Suns. However, they got knocked out in the next round, showing that they needed some help.

Perhaps Mark Cuban will have something up his sleeve during the NBA trade deadline to get Luka some help.
