Jae Crowder trade rumors: Jae Crowder is gaining interest from Hornets, Nuggets, Wizards, Timberwolves and Knicks

Phoenix Suns v Dallas Mavericks

Phoenix Suns forward Jae Crowder has not played for the team at all this season. After two years in Phoenix, the 11-year veteran demanded a trade during the offseason. One of the main reasons why Crowder wanted to leave the Suns is because he did not get a contract extension.

Crowder has not been with the team all season. He has been working out on his own in anticipation of an impeding trade. At age 32, Crowder still believes that he is a starter-caliber player in the NBA. He has been a solid defender in the league and would be an asset to a team trying to make a playoff push.

Jae Crowder averages 9.4 ppg, 5.3 rpg and shoots 34.6% from 3-point range for his career. The well-traveled forward has been in the playoffs for nine years of his 11-year career. He has played for seven NBA teams. After the trade, it will be eight organizations.

Per senior NBA writer Sam Amico of Hoopswire.com, there are teams that have expressed interest in Jae Crowder’s services. Those teams include the Charlotte Hornets, Denver Nuggets, Washington Wizards, Minnesota Timberwolves and New York Knicks. Each of these teams may have something of interest for the Suns to make the trade. Crowder’s salary for this season is $10 million, and a trade would have to be able to offset that amount.

The trade may not involve just one team depending on each team’s salary cap issues and what everyone is looking to get in return. The Suns may be apprehensive about trading Crowder to the Timberwolves or Nuggets because they are in the Western Conference and may see them in the playoffs.

Jae Crowder and the current state of the Phoenix Suns

The Phoenix Suns have had an eventful offseason. They had Jae Crowder asking for a trade, and he has yet to join the team. The team almost lost Deandre Ayton to the Indiana Pacers before the Suns matched his offer sheet. Then, on top that, owner Robert Sarver is going to have to sell the team due to the results of a league investigation that uncovered racism and misogyny in the organization. Sarver is currently serving a one-year suspension.

Through it all coach Monty Williams has the team with a 14-6 record and first place in the Pacific Division. That is without Crowder taking the court for the team the entire season. Veteran star point guard Chris Paul has only played in 10 games this year and hasn’t played since November 7, due to a heel injury. The Suns have shown themselves to be a resilient organization and are still expected to be contenders in the Western Conference.
