Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics fought back for a tough comeback win on Tuesday night against the LA Lakers. According to Tatum, the extra motivation came before the 122-118 overtime victory even started.

The Boston Celtics have been one of the NBA's best teams throughout this season. After an eye-opening 125-98 win against the Phoenix Suns last Wednesday, Boston found itself at 21-5. But then the Celtics had a pair of disappointing performances, losing to the Golden State Warriors and LA Clippers.

For Tatum, his outing in a 113-93 loss to the Clippers on Monday night left an impression on coach Joe Mazzulla. Unfortunately for Tatum, it wasn't a positive one. In an article by Jared Weiss of The Athletic, Tatum revealed that Mazzulla spoke to the Celtics superstar before their game against the Lakers.

“He pointed me out. He basically told me it starts with me,” Tatum said. “Last game I played like s**t, and he told me that. Told me the way I play, the rest of the guys are going to follow."

The Boston Celtics have been one of the NBA's most dominant teams this season. After Tuesday night's overtime win against the LA Lakers, the Celtics find themselves at 22-7.

The engine behind the Celtics impressive play has been superstar forward Jayson Tatum. The talented wing bounced back in a big way against the Lakers. Tatum finished with 44 points, nine rebounds and six assists on 15-for-29 shooting.

Boston continues to look like a dominant force. After a pair of disappointing performances, the Celtics responded and edged out a road win against the Lakers.

After a long road trip, the Celtics will now return home for a seven-game homestand. It will start on Friday as the Celtics welcome the Orlando Magic (8-20) for a pair of games.

Tatum continues to be a serious contender for the MVP award. He's averaging 30.2 points, 8.3 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game. He's shooting 47.0%, including 36.2% from 3-point range.

The Celtics had yet to face any serious adversity throughout the 2022-23 season. It looks as if they just got a taste of some during their recent West Coast road trip. For Jayson Tatum and the Celtics, they will now look to take care of business back at home and keep their momentum going.
