Kevin Durant accepts he was at fault for Warriors move as Suns star continues to get booed in Oklahoma - "I mean I understand"

Kevin Durant in action against the OKC Thunder

Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant still seems to have some bad blood left in Oklahoma City as fans booed the forward on Sunday night. However, while speaking about the situation after the game, Durant accepted that he'd earned the boos from the home crowd.

Durant became a household name during his time with the OKC Thunder. He also led the franchise to its first Finals appearance since moving to Oklahoma City.

Unfortunately, his move to the Golden State Warriors left a bad taste in the mouth of many home fans. Needless to say, that wound hasn't healed, as Durant is still booed at OKC home games.

Durant also mentioned the fans booing him after the game. KD, however, took responsibility for the situation while expressing his thoughts on it. He said:

"I mean, I understand it. I meant so much to this community and just for me to leave like that, early on I didn't get it, but I get that an NBA team is a part of your community. You've got players who transcend your community. You feel closer to them."
"So, I get it. I mean, it's still emotions, it's still some people who don't like that I left this franchise. But it was more love this time than it has been in the past. So I was just focused on that."

Durant's statement was largely positive as he concluded by expressing his gratitude for the team and the city that molded him.

Sunday night's action saw the Phoenix Suns head over to Oklahoma City to play the Thunder. A matchup between a title contender and an up-and-coming young team is always exciting.

While KD was grateful for what the city meant to him, he showed no mercy for the Thunder on Sunday night. After dropping a huge 35-point performance to secure a win for the Suns, Durant seems to be back in the swing of things.

Kevin Durant is looking dangerous again

Kevin Durant's performance on Sunday night was an explicit sign that the Phoenix Suns superstar is back in business. While concerns regarding his form have been pressing, KD has addressed them quite well.

Durant looked quite rusty as he made his return from injury. With the nerves of making a comeback for his first home game in a new uniform getting to him, KD didn't play up to his potential. Since that first game, however, Durant has hit the ground running.

With back-to-back 30-point games in the bag, Durant seems to be humming. The timing couldn't be any more perfect as the Suns round up the regular-season to prepare for the postseason.
