Ahead of his first season with the Dallas Mavericks, veteran sharpshooter Klay Thompson attended Sunday's Las Vegas Aces vs New York Liberty matchup in Brooklyn. Afterward, the five-time All-Star shouted out one of his fellow Bahamians, New York star center Jonquel Jones, on social media.
Thompson was one of several NBA players who traveled to Barclays Center to catch the rematch of last year's WNBA Finals. Others included Phoenix Suns and Golden State Warriors superstar guards Devin Booker and Steph Curry.
Thompson was seen sitting courtside enthusiastically sporting Jones' No. 35 Liberty jersey.

Despite Las Vegas missing its top player, superstar center A'ja Wilson (ankle), it nearly pulled off a massive comeback. The Aces rallied from a 20-point deficit to take a late fourth-quarter lead.
However, New York responded, with star guard Sabrina Ionescu banking in a pull-up jumper to give her squad a 72-71 lead with 43.6 seconds remaining. Shortly after, Ionescu split a pair of free throws to extend the Liberty's lead to 73-71.
After Las Vegas failed to convert on the other end, Jones secured a rebound, getting fouled and earning a chance to ice the game at the free-throw line. She did just that, going 2-for-2 at the charity stripe to give New York a four-point advantage with 2.5 seconds left.
The Liberty ultimately held on for a 75-71 home victory, with Jones tallying 15 points, eight rebounds and four assists, shooting 75.0%.
Following the game, Thompson took to his Instagram stories, commending Jones for her clutch performance.
"Ice in her veins," Thompson captioned a video of Jones' game-clinching free throws.
In a follow-up IG story, Thompson referenced his and Jones' Bahamian roots.
"242 to da world. My Bahamian sis," Thompson captioned a photo of him and Jones.
Sunday's win marked New York's third straight, improving it to a league-best 29-6 record.
Klay Thompson has comical interaction with Steph Curry at Aces-Liberty game
During Sunday's Aces vs Liberty contest, Klay Thompson was spotted engaging in a humorous interaction with his ex-Warriors co-star Steph Curry.
Thompson was chatting with his new Mavericks teammate Dereck Lively II when Curry jokingly walked between them pretending to be disgusted. The two then laughed and engaged in some seemingly lighthearted banter.
After being drafted No. 11 by Golden State in the 2011 NBA draft, Thompson spent the first 13 years of his career alongside Curry, winning four championships. However, he departed the franchise this offseason, joining Dallas on a three-year, $50 million contract via a sign-and-trade deal.
Thus, this upcoming NBA season marks the first that Thompson and Curry will be adversaries. However, there doesn't appear to be any animosity between the former teammates.
