LA Lakers head coach Darvin Ham recently shared his thoughts on LeBron James closing in on the NBA's scoring record. Ham said he expects the atmosphere to be electric when James does eventually break the record.

At the age of 38 in his 20th season, James finds himself on the verge of breaking arguably the greatest record in the NBA. The Lakers forward needs just 36 more points to break Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record of 38,387 points and could do so in the team's next game against the OKC Thunder on Tuesday.

In this regard, LA Lakers head coach Darvin Ham had nothing but praise for his player. Speaking to the media, Ham said the Lakers have shown a lot of support for James as he approaches the record.

"It's been a wonderful thing to see from afar. But now, to see it up close, is really really special. He hasn't been caught up in that. His biggest thing is winning games. It's a historic moment. I'm sure the atmosphere will be electric. I think everyone will be on the edge of their seats. Everyone wants the hottest ticket in town to be there, be able to say they witnessed it first hand."

He added:

"It's good for the Lakers. It's good for the NBA, you know obviously a hell of an accomplishment by LeBron. Doing it while playing the right way. We're all happy for him. We're all ecstatic. I think it'll be a major moment in sports history."

With basketball fans focusing on the Lakers' game against the OKC Thunder, James will undoubtedly be the center of attention, like he has been most of his career.
