The LA Lakers fans weren't all riled up after their season's first loss on Tuesday under coach JJ Redick. In fact, they were happy to see the rookie HC take accountability for how things played out in LA's 18-point meltdown. The Lakers fans didn't miss the chance to throw shade at former coach Darvin Ham, though.

Most of the franchise's fan base feels Ham never took accountability when the team failed to deliver and threw the players under the bus. For the Lakers fans, it was refreshing to see Redick blame himself the first chance he got.

"If there’s one thing to nitpick it’s probably me … We should never have a 14-point quarter … That’s on me," Redick told reporters after the game (h/t ESPN reporter Dave McMenamin).

JJ Redick was reportedly angry at Lakers players in the locker room

While JJ Redick held himself accountable in the press conference, the coach let his players hear it in private. According to LA Times' Dan Woike, Redick was 'p**sed' at his players for not doubling Kevin Durant in the Suns' second-quarter turnaround. The Lakers also scored 14 points in that quarter.

Redick took the blame on his head during the post-game interview, though. He said he should have installed better schemes offensively and thrown the "fire" a possession or two earlier when Durant got hot in that stretch and got the Suns back into the contest.

There are not many lapses the Lakers have had across their 16 quarters thus far. Monday was almost an anomaly, especially in JJ Redick's well-run system, where the Lakers' playcalling and execution rate have been off the charts.

LA will be keen to bounce back from this close loss and avoid letting their 3-0 start get overshadowed by consecutive losses. They play the in-form Cavaliers next on the road on Wednesday.
