In the first game of his 22nd year in the NBA, LeBron James broke an unwanted record held by the legendary Kobe Bryant. James needed just six missed shots entering the game to become the league's leader in all-time field goals missed.

According to Basketball Reference, James broke Bryant's record once he missed his sixth shot of the game in the third quarter. The Lakers superstar drove to the basket and tried to hit a running layup, but it clanked on the rim at the seventh-minute mark of the period.

Bryant's record was 14,481 shots, which wasn't surprising considering his mantra about scoring the basketball. James, meanwhile, is all about longevity and is a more efficient scorer. He's also the NBA's all-time leading scorer and the only player with at least 40,000 points.

One fan even pointed out that it shouldn't be seen as a bad record for LeBron James, no matter what his haters say. The fan explained that James has 8,000 more points than Kobe Bryant, who took more almost 3,000 shots than him.

"This is literally a compliment to LeBron. He has 8k more points than Kobe and nearly 3000 more shots, and Kobe STILL has more missed shots than him," the fan tweeted.

Unlike Bryant, James' scoring is focused on getting the best shot possible. He's a truck who bulldozes his way to the rim although he has improved his shooting over his career. He might be shooting just 34.8% from beyond the arc in his career, but he's eighth in 3-pointers made with 2,410.

The four-time NBA champion shoots 50.6% from the field in his career and is one of the most efficient players in the league despite his age. Bryant was a volume scorer, so he had to shoot a lot of shots. "Black Mamba" shot 44.7% from the field in his legendary career.

Once Bronny James was selected 55th in the second round of the 2024 NBA draft, many expected him to make history with his father LeBron James this season. The father-son duo played in the same game during preseason, but it was an exhibition game.

Fast forward to the opening night against the Minnesota Timberwolves, LeBron and Bronny became the first father-son duo in NBA history to play at the same time. They entered with around four minutes in the second period, with LeBron giving his son a peptalk beforehand.

"Y'all ready? You see the intensity, right?" James said, according to the Associated Pres. "Just play carefree, though. Don't worry about mistakes. Just go out, and play hard."

The duo played together for around two and a half minutes but only scored a combined two points. LeBron missed a couple of jumpshots before hitting a dunk, while Bronny missed a tip in and a 3-point attempt.
