Dallas Mavericks superstar guard Luka Doncic made NBA history in multiple ways during the Mavs’ 126-121 overtime win over New York on Tuesday. Doncic dropped a career-high and franchise-best 60 points to go along with a career-high 21 rebounds and 10 assists. In doing so, Doncic became the youngest player in NBA history to record a triple-double with 50 or more points scored, at the age of 23.

He also became the first player in NBA history to record a 60-point, 20-rebound triple-double. Plus, even if you subtract 10 points from Doncic’s stat line, only two other players in NBA history have put up 50/20/10 in a single game.

Who are the only other two players to have recorded 50/20/10 games in NBA history?

According to StatMuse, Luka Doncic joins NBA legends Wilt Chamberlain and Elgin Baylor as the only players in NBA history to have recorded 50/20/10 games. Chamberlain did so twice in 1963 and 1968, while Baylor did so once in 1961.

Chamberlain, in particular, is known for putting up some of the gaudiest stat lines in NBA history and for setting numerous unbeatable records. However, even he never put up 60/20/10 in a single game. So the first player to do so ends up being a guard in Doncic.

The Mavericks were trailing by nine points with around 33 seconds remaining in regulation during Dallas' win over New York on Tuesday night. They then staged an incredible comeback, highlighted by Doncic's overtime-forcing putback off an intentionally missed free throw with 1.0 seconds remaining.

Doncic then proceeded to score seven of the Mavs' 11 points in overtime to reach 60 points and secure the victory.

After his historic 60-point, 20-rebound triple-double, Doncic spoke about how he needed some well-deserved rest.

“I’m tired as hell. I need a recovery beer,” Doncic said.

The win marked Dallas’ fourth straight win after falling below .500 at 15-16. Doncic is averaging 41.8 points, 11.8 rebounds, 9.8 assists, 2.5 steals, and 2.8 3-pointers per game while shooting 59.1% during the Mavs’ winning streak.

The Mavericks now sit at 19-16 and sixth in the Western Conference. Meanwhile, Doncic is now just a hair behind Philadelphia 76ers superstar big man Joel Embiid in the race for the NBA scoring title. Embiid is averaging 33.7PPG compared to Doncic’s 33.6PPG.
