All-Star guard Luka Doncic was in public for the first time after the LA Lakers were eliminated in the 2025 playoffs. The Lakers didn't survive in the first round against the Minnesota Timberwolves and were out of the postseason in five games.

Doncic led the team in scoring against the Wolves. He averaged 30.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 5.8 assists. The five-time All-Star made the most of his chances on the floor and shot 45.2 percent. However, his outing wasn't enough for LA to survive Minnesota.

Now that the Lakers' season is over, the players have a lot of free time. Doncic took the chance to travel back home to Slovenia and watch Game 3 of the ABA 2 League finals between Ilirija and Bosna. The game was in Ljubljana, the capital of his home country, and took place in Tivoli Hall.

NBA insider thinks Luka Doncic's teammate was 'disrespectful'

After the series, there were questions about the Lakers and their future with Luka Doncic and LeBron James. The latter had a subtle shot at the front office following the conclusion of their season, which resulted in him playing center.

James had to be the man in the middle after they traded Anthony Davis to the Dallas Mavericks. Following that, their attempt to trade for Charlotte Hornets center Mark Williams fell through. In the end, they had Jaxson Hayes as their starting center but were limited in the postseason.

James brought up the request that Davis had made before he was traded. The All-Star big man said he wanted the Lakers to make a trade and acquire a center. However, the front office did not honor his demand and traded for Doncic.

However, when they had the five-time All-NBA player, the Lakers tried to make a move to address their thin frontcourt. Unfortunately, Williams failed his physical, which prevented the trade from happening.

After James' comments, ESPN's Ramona Shelburne talked about how it was "disrespectful" to the organization and his co-star, Luka Doncic.

"I thought it was disrespectful towards the organization," Shelburne said (17:24).
"I also thought it was kind of disrespectful to Luka, to AD, but mostly to the organization, they got Luka Doncic."

Shelburne went on to criticize James and what he said about the Lakers. According to her, it was an "unnecessary stirring of the pot" on the four-time champion's end.
