Bronny James hadn't played a single minute of NBA basketball but people were already talking about him.
That's the kind of burden that comes with being LeBron James' firstborn, although it also came with its fair share of perks. For starters, Bronny got more guaranteed money than the average No. 55 pick, not to mention a seemingly beneficial treatment from his G-League squad.
That's why after watching Scottie Pippen Jr. make a big impact for the Memphis Grizzlies this season, former NBA coach George Karl seemingly took a jab at the James family, urging fans to put in that same effort when talking about Pippens.
"I would love to see Scottie and Scottie Pippen Jr get a similar level of attention that another second Gen NBA family gets," Karl tweeted.

Pippen, who has had to work his way up in the league, is averaging 12.1 points, 3.9 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game. He's even made eight starts for the Grizzlies, shooting 47.9%, including 39.3% from deep.
Notably, this isn't the first time that Karl has taken a shot at Bronny. Following his G-League debut, he had some sharp comments on X.
"Is Legion Hoops trying to create news by showing Bronny is bad, like everyone knew he would be?? This ain't news," Karl posted.
Shannon Sharpe is worried about Bronny James and his playing time
A recent report stirred the pot further, as it revealed that Bronny would only play in home games for the South Bay Lakers.
Several analysts, including Shannon Sharpe, thought this would be detrimental to his development.
"How does Bronny get better when he's only playing part-time?" Sharpe said on Nov. 13, via the 'Hoop Collective' podcast. "You get better by playing! We had a conversation about Scottie Pippen Jr. Look at what he's doing. He was sitting on the bench; look at him now when he's getting an opportunity to play."
On the other hand, James shared his feelings about playing in the G-League.
"I've seen all the buzz from me going to the G," James said after his G-League debut on Nov. 9. "It's just an amazing experience for me to go out and play my game and get some minutes under me. I'm just excited for it."
Bronny James was not a highly-touted prospect or projected to be a star. As for Scotty Pippen Jr., he continues to play at a high level and is getting more attention for his performances.
