Ben Simmons wants his ring. Not the NBA championship jewelry as he does not have one but the engagement ring he gave to Maya Jama, his former fiancee.

The Brooklyn Nets point guard couldn’t do it personally, so he sent a legal team to do the job for him. Simmons and “The Love Island” host reportedly split in August 2022. But the 28-year-old beauty confirmed in an interview this month that she has only been single for a month.

Regardless of the date, Jama kept the ring even as they went their separate ways.

The Ben Simmons and Maya Jama engagement didn’t survive the rigors of a long-distance commitment. He proposed on Christmas Day in December 2021. The ring was crafted at Jewelers’ Row in Philadelphia. Almost a year later, they ended up in Splitsville.

Simmons is trying to help Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant win the Nets' first franchise championship. Jama, on the other hand, operates in West London.

A representative of the radio personality via "The Sun" had this to say about the legal demand from Simmons:

“Maya received a request from Ben’s representatives on Friday afternoon, asking her to return the engagement ring that he gave her as a gift last year.
“This was the first time that she has been asked by Ben to return it and, for the avoidance of any doubt, she has never refused to return it.

The Australian superstar was rumored to be deeply hurt and heartbroken after the relationship ended. They were reportedly going to move to Los Angeles after the former Philadelphia 76ers guard bought a multi-million mansion.

Per the same representative of Maya Jama:

"Maya is making arrangements to return the ring to Ben and wishes him all the best.”

That should put a closure to what was once a very intriguing and colorful relationship.

The Brooklyn Nets need more from Ben Simmons, particularly without Kevin Durant

The Brooklyn Nets are 2-4 in their last six games without Kevin Durant. They lost four straight games before going on a two-game winning streak. Ben Simmons has been up and down as always, which the Nets are forced to live with.

He is averaging 5.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, 8.1 assists and 2.0 steals in January. Brooklyn is paying him $35.4 million this season to do much more than that. Simmons has to provide better scoring output to help make up for Durant’s absence.

Kenny Smith has sound advice on how the three-time All-Star can score more buckets while still maintaining his role in the team.

In the Brooklyn Nets' first two wins without KD, Kyrie Irving played a heroic role in both games. “Uncle Drew” dropped 48 and 38 points respectively in those victories. The Nets will have to desperately hope Irving can keep it up as Ben Simmons can’t be relied on that end.

Nets head coach Jacque Vaughn supported his point guard by saying he didn’t need Simmons to score. Vaughn just needs Simmons to rebound and play defense so he can surround him with shooters. The strategy has worked only when Irving has gone berserk.

It remains to be seen if they can keep it up if Irving’s guns go cold.
