For months, the next landing spot of Kevin Durant has been a hot topic within the NBA community. On Tuesday, an NBA insider offered a glimpse into the Phoenix Suns forward's near future.

Appearing on ESPN's "Get Up," Brian Windhorst reported that Durant is likely on his way out of The Valley in the upcoming 2025 offseason.

"I do believe Kevin Durant will be traded in the coming weeks," Windhorst said. "There are gonna be a handful of teams that have interest in Durant."

Windhorst named the New York Knicks as one of the teams keenly eyeing the two-time NBA champion. This would be a homecoming of sorts for Durant, as he played in New York state for four seasons as a star for the Brooklyn Nets.

The ESPN analyst went on to add that the Knicks — and any other team pursuing Durant, for that matter — will have some contract considerations to keep in mind.

"The key with Durant is this: He has one year left on his contract," Windhorst said. "Is he going to want to sign an extension, and is he going to want to be part of the process of the trade? And are the Suns gonna let him be involved in the process?"

In the past, reports have emerged about Durant requesting trades to — and even out of — certain teams. The Suns organization, which acquired Durant back in early 2023, will certainly have to decide how involved the 15-time All-Star will be in any trade shipping him out of Phoenix.

As far as the Knicks are concerned, their recent dismissal of head coach Tom Thibodeau signals a new direction for the 2025-26 season. If the Knicks are willing to pay the right cost in terms of roster assets and financial resources, the latest chapter of their franchise's rich history could involve a surefire Hall of Famer.

Stephen A. Smith names Eastern Conference team as top trade destination for Kevin Durant

Windhorst's report came a day after his ESPN colleague Stephen A. Smith projected the top trade destinations for Kevin Durant.

On Monday's episode of "First Take," Smith presented his "Stephen's A-List," which had none other than his beloved Knicks at number one.

"The market. The mecca. Madison Square Garden," Smith raved. "Jalen Brunson in the house. Keep Anunoby if you can." [Timestamp - 2:05]

Aside from the Knicks, Smith also named the Houston Rockets, the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Detroit Pistons, and the Miami Heat as possible landing spots for Durant.
