NBA Twitter lights up after Steve Nash is sacked by Brooklyn Nets: "Congratulations Steve Nash on getting away from that disaster"

The Brooklyn Nets sacked coach Steve Nash on Tuesday and NBA Twitter is having a fun time reacting to the news. Nash's job has been in the crosshairs ever since superstar Kevin Durant demanded that the former league MVP be sacked in the summer.

Durant initially wanted Nash to be the Nets' coach in the summer of 2020. However, their relationship turned sour as the Nets got swept by the Celtics in the first round of the playoffs last season.

However, after the Brooklyn Nets made a terrible start to their new season, Nash's job was always going to be in danger. The coach was sacked on the eve of the Nets game against DeMar DeRozan and his Chicago Bulls later today.

While many in the Twitter community expressed sympathy for handling a dysfunctional team, others pointed to Nash's poor coaching tenure. Here are some of NBA Twitter's best reactions:

Brooklyn Nets' troubles continue despite firing Steve Nash

The Brooklyn Nets and their dysfunctional franchise face yet another roadblock. The Nets have been comically unreliable over the past couple of years and Nash's sacking is just one aspect of the story.

Steve Nash wasn't a great coach for the Brooklyn Nets as he won only 91 regular-season games. The Nets offense was often criticized for being too iso-heavy and lacking any set plays. With a lot of offensive talent in the Nets, it was always head-scratching to see the offense rely on isolation buckets from Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant.

Additionally, the Nets also had one of the worst defensive ratings in the entire league. Even though Nash can't be blamed for all of their defensive problems, it is to note that he couldn't get his team to commit on that side of the ball.

All their problems came to the forefront when the Nets got hammered and swept by the Boston Celtics last summer.

Additionally, Nash also failed to get the best out of Kyrie Irving. Irving, an All-Star in the league, was a pain for Nash throughout his tenure. Firstly, Irving disrespected Nash by saying that either he or Kevin could be the head coach and that the franchise doesn't need a coach.

Then, according to reports, Irving continuously disrespected Nash as the pair kept clashing over the team's playstyle.

From Steve Nash's point of view, he would be relieved to have left such a messy team. Nash would have grown tired of the Nets' superstars' continuous tantrums over the course of the past couple of years.
