The Boston Celtics hosted the Miami Heat on Wednesday night. Led by Jayson Tatum, who had an impressive performance with 49 points and 11 rebounds, the Celtics beat Miami and won their fifth game in a row.
The clash between the two Eastern Conference rivals was attended by the Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate. The two sat courside and received a lot of media attention, which isn't something that fans liked.
The royal couple received a lot of hate on social media for their appearance at the TD Garden. Fortunately for the Celtics, they won and remain first in the East.
The royal couple attended the Boston Celtics game
Prince William and Kate Middleton visited the United States for the first time in eight years. They landed in Boston, and just a few hours later, the royal couple attended a game between the Celtics and the Heat.
William and Kate had the best seats in the house. They sat courtside and were close to some of the best basketball players in the world, including Jayson Tatum and Bam Adebayo.
Shortly before tip-off, the royal couple posted a tweet showing off their amazing courtside view. They also expressed support for the Boston Celtics.

In return, the official Twitter account of the Celtics also welcomed the Prince and Princess of Wales to the TD Garden.
This is not the first time that the royal couple have attended an NBA game. During their previous visit to the States, they watched a clash between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Brooklyn Nets.
During the game, they sat next to Dikembe Mutombo, and they also met Beyonce and Jay-Z. LeBron James, who was playing for the Cavaliers at the time, met William and Kate after the game and gave them custom Cavs jerseys.
NBA fans did not react well to the royal visit
Some NBA fans did not react well to the royal visit. While it appears that most of them were fine with the visit, they simply believe that the couple received too much media attention.

One Twitter user was bothered that the Boston Celtics broadcast focused too much on the Prince and Princess of Wales. Instead of focusing on basketball action, the broadcast often showed the couple sitting courtside.
Another Twitter user posted a simple question:
It's clear that NBA Twitter isn't a big fan of the royal couple. However, considering that they've attended several professional basketball games, it won't be surprising to see them sit courtside again in the future.
