LeBron James is finally entering the 21st season of his career, and Shannon Sharpe is all hyped up for the King. Sharpe is hopeful that LeBron is going to win the LA Lakers its 18th and his fifth ring this season. Previously, James also said that the defending champions are going to get their answers, after their trash talk last season.

With the NBA ready to tip off today, Shannon Sharpe about it on First Take with co-host Stephen A. Smith. Sharpe said that LeBron’s chase for championship No. 5 starts Tuesday against the Denver Nuggets:

“The quest for 18 Lakers, the quest for number 5 with GOAT James starts tonight.”

The Lakers are set to face the defending champions Nuggets in Ball Arena in Denver. Both Anthony Davis and LeBron James have previously said that they have heard all the trash talk by the defending champions and they were ready with the answers.

“Me and Bron had some conversations like, ‘We can’t wait,’” Davis said.

The Lakers added a few good players to their roster this offseason. They signed Christian Wood, Gabe Vincent, Cam Reddish, Jaxson Hayes and Taurean Prince to add to their depth. It would be interesting to see how the Lakers unfold their season with the new roster.

Gilbert Arenas drops a truth bomb in LeBron James' favor

Gilbert Arenas has always given LeBron James his flowers. Despite being trash-talked by LeBron during his tenure with the Washington Wizards, Arenas has been a firm believer in James being the basketball GOAT.

Arenas recently tried putting LeBron’s 21st year in the NBA into perspective. He said that just because LeBron has been so good for so long, people fail to realize his greatness. He compared him to other 38-year-old players in the NBA and said that they were not even near James:

“I think because he has been so good for so long, I don’t think no one in real time is realizing what LeBron is actually doing. No one’s paying attention. Like, let’s just say his age. He is 38. Now, when you compare him to other 38 year olds who have played this game, they look exactly like 38. Seven points, playing 4-5 minutes.”

LeBron is indeed playing at an unprecedented level. When most players retire from the NBA at almost 39, he is playing great basketball. Despite his age disadvantage, he is still a top-10 player in the league, which is nearly impossible for someone of his age and something no one has done before.
