Reggie Bullock purchases 5-acre island in Belize: Details of ‘BULLOCK ISLAND’ explored

Despite Reggie Bullock and the Dallas Mavericks still having their sights on the NBA Playoffs, his family remains at the forefront of his future plans. Back in May of last season, Bullock made headlines when it was revealed that he had bought a five-acre island with intentions of creating a vacation spot.

In an interview with AndScape, Bullock said he had the idea to purchase an island during the 2019-20 NBA season. After doing some research online, he sent his mom, girlfriend, and two of his siblings to look at an island in Belize. After hearing good things, he took the plunge and purchased the island, dubbed 'BULLOCK ISLAND'

During the 2022 NBA All-Star break in February, Bullock had the chance to visit the island for the first time and said:

“The water is beautiful. That was one of the first things that I noticed. A lot of people are from Cali [California] and Texas. A lot of doctors and a lot of people going into retirement purchase homes for about $300,000 to $400,000 around the water. The people are dope. The food is dope. If you’re down to fish, they have really good grouper.”

According to Bullock, he plans to build a 4,000sqft home for himself and his family, as well as eight other "villas" for people to rent.

Reggie Bullock’s long-term plans for BULLOCK ISLAND

According to Reggie Bullock, Bullock Island isn’t just a place for he and his family to get together, it’s also somewhere he plans to use as an investment. With plans to add a restaurant, bar, spa, basketball court, pool, and much more, he wants Bullock Island to be an investment for himself, and the local community.

In addition, he wants the island to be something that stays in his family for generations. He spoke to his son about his vision, explaining to him that he wants the island to be in their family for generations.

As he explained in his interview with AndScape, he’s taking advice and hiring locals in order to make sure that things are moving in the right direction.

“You got to build a team around, from the construction to a lawyer who is doing everything financially,” Bullock said. “From having people you trust that bring dope ideas to the island, getting cool with the [locals], all the people that run the city down there.”

The way he sees things, the island should be completed sometime this year, with the finished construction capable of hosting up to 40 people at once. From the sounds of things, once construction is complete, Bullock’s Dallas Mavericks teammates will be among some of the first visitors.

With the offseason potentially right around the corner for the Mavericks depending on how things play out, only time will tell whether the team makes a playoff push. If not, the team could be visiting Bullock Island sooner rather than later.
