Basketball fans all over the world have been eager to watch 2023 NBA draft prospect Victor Wembanyama. The NBA saw it as an opportunity to showcase their next potential superstar.

Heading into the season, fans were already eager about the incoming class of draft prospects. One of the main reasons why was because of the buzz surrounding Victor Wembanyama. The 18-year-old big man has been generating hype overseas with his freakish talents.

Wembanyama is listed at 7-foot-4 and has the tools to become a generational talent. With the two-way potential to become a dominant force, NBA fan bases are already dreaming of having lottery luck. Wembanyama has been playing this year for the Metropolitan 92's, based in France. It has been difficult for NBA fans to view the team's home games.

That's when the NBA league stepped in. The league acquired the rights to broadcast the Metropolitan 92 games for the season. As reported by Ahn Fire Digital, it only cost the NBA a total of $138 thousand for the streaming rights:

"The NBA acquired the rights to stream the games of Wembanyama’s team, the Boulogne-Levallois Metropolitans 92, this season. According to a recent report, the league paid a relatively small amount of money to do so: 133,000 euros, which is equal to about $138,385."

French-born prospect Victor Wembanyama has become the talk of the basketball world. While many fan bases dream of making the playoffs this season, others are dreaming of winning the NBA draft lottery.

The prize would be none other than Wembanyama, who has the potential to transform a franchise. Wembanyama has impressed scouts with his ability on both sides of the floor. He has the tools to be a dominant shot blocker with his length and impressive mobility.

On the offensive side, Victor can give opposing defenders nightmares. He has the size to overpower defenders in the post but can also stretch the floor from 3-point range.

NBA fans will continue to watch Victor Wembanyama with a great amount of interest in the future of the league.

In his last five games this season, Victor is averaging 25.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 2.8 blocks per game. During that stretch, he's also shooting 51.9%, including 33.3% from 3-point range.

The draft lottery, which began in 1985 to prevent tanking by struggling teams in an attempt to land Patrick Ewing, will decide which team gets the No. 1 pick. The lottery will take place May 16.
