Rob Dillingham and the Minnesota Timberwolves took on the Houston Rockets in an NBA Cup matchup on Tuesday night. While the Rockets may lack the star power the Wolves have, Houston is currently doing better as a team so far this season.
Timberwolves rookie Rob Dillingham had the best game of his career yet when they previously faced the defending champions the Boston Celtics. The rookie only played for 16 minutes but managed to contribute 14 points while shooting 50% from beyond the arc and 60% overall.
However, come Tuesday, facing the Rockets, Dillingham barely delivered in the first half. He played for eight minutes and missed all three of his shot attempts. He was only able to contribute three assists and two rebounds.

Coming into the second half, Dillingham finally found his stride and assisted his team make a comeback. In the third quarter, the rookie hit a couple of three-pointers as the Timberwolves tried to catch up.
Keeping the team alive was none other than Anthony Edwards. "Antman" mainly focused on getting buckets for Minnesota while Naz Reid and Julius Randle helped support him on offense. The game was then sent to overtime when the Rockets managed to tie the game at 102-102 in the fourth quarter. While only scoring four points, Dillingham’s two baskets inside the paint played a huge factor in Minnesota’s late-game comeback.
Ultimately, the Rockets escaped with a narrow 117-111 victory.
Fred VanVleet, Alperen Sengun and Dillon Brooks proved to be threats to Minnesota as they carried Houston to triumphance.

The Minnesota Timberwolves hosted the Houston Rockets in an NBA Cup matchup on Tuesday. Houston shocked the home team as they beat the Wolves in overtime with a 117-111 finish. Anthony Edwards, Julius Randle and Naz Reid all did their best to come up with a win, however, Fred VanVleet, Alperen Sengun and Dillon Brooks proved to be a better trio.
Edwards had a solid double-double performance with 29 points and 10 rebounds. Randle added 21 points, while Reid had 19 points. Assisting the scoring trio was their rookie Rob Dillingham. His presence in the first half was nowhere to be found. But come the second half, the rookie managed to contribute significantly.
Dillingham had a solid performance overall, adding 12 points, seven assists and five rebounds. His late-game fourth-quarter resurgence nearly helped the Wolves secure a huge victory at home. However, Houston found a way to send the game to overtime and ultimately come up with the victory.
