Shannon Sharpe doesn’t hold back as LA Lakers lose to Memphis Grizzlies

The LA Lakers lost to the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday as they suffered another blow to their playoff hopes. The Lakers are well on their way to getting eliminated from the playoff race for a second consecutive year.

Following the loss, NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe expressed his disappointment at how the Lakers played. Sharpe called out the team on Twitter after their embarrassing outing against Memphis.

"Who DA F**K the Lakers think they’re going to beat giving up 86 paint pts and committing 26 turnovers," Sharpe tweeted.

Los Angeles ended the game with 26 turnovers and gave up 86 points in the paint. The Grizzlies struggled to connect from deep, only making 19.4% of their attempts from beyond the arc. However, they did most of their damage from inside.

The LA Lakers tried their best and had 10 blocks, but that wasn't enough. Ja Morant had a triple-double, posting 39 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.

Can the LA Lakers make it back to the playoffs this season?

The 2022-23 NBA season is almost nearing its conclusion as teams are starting to make a final push for the postseason. A team that likely won't see any action during the playoffs is the LA Lakers, as they are dealing a ton of setbacks. Injuries to their stars have been the main cause of where they are right now and it's likely that they'll finish their campaign outside of the playoff picture.

Against the Grizzlies, the Los Angeles squad was without stars D'Angelo Russell and LeBron James. Both players are dealing with foot injuries and will likely miss a huge ton of their remaining games.

A return to the postseason has been the goal of the Lakers since the start of the season as they missed it last year due to injuries to Anthony Davis. Additionally, a terribly constructed roster was also a source of their struggles last year. The front office was able to address their roster needs, but that hasn't been enough.

With the injuries their stars have suffered this season, it's looking like the Lakers could miss the playoffs. Shams Charania of The Athletic also reported earlier this week that James could miss multiple weeks due to his broken foot. He's a player that could determine the outcome of their 2022-23 campaign.

The only option for the Lakers this season is to hope that LeBron can return from his injury quickly. Los Angeles will take on the Oklahoma City Thunder tomorrow, which they can take advantage of to add another win to their record.
