The Los Angeles Lakers will reportedly be adding the G League coach of the year Lindsey Harding to their revamped coaching staff for next season headed by JJ Redick.
Harding is a former WNBA top overall pick, before becoming a player development coach for the Philadelphia 76ers and the Sacramento Kings. Last season, she led the Stockton Kings to the G League’s Western Conference Finals, helping her case as the Coach of the Year.
She is expected to boost the Lakers’ coaching staff and player development, especially with rookies Dalton Knecht and Bronny James, who is Lakers’ superstar LeBron James' son.

With the new acquisition, fans expressed their optimism about what she could bring to the table. Some fans expected her to boost the team’s young players like Bronny.

“Impressive. She can probably teach Bronny a thing or 2,” said one fan.
“She will be in charge of Bronny shooting,” said another fan.
“Don’t wanna send bronny to the g league so they brought the g league to him😭,” said one fan.
Fans were very particular about Bronny as he has been struggling in his first few games in the Summer League. He averages 4.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.3 steals while shooting 7-for-31 (22.6%), including a lackluster 0-for-15 from three-point range.
Bronny James has also signed a four-year deal worth $ 7.9 million after being drafted 55th overall in the 2024 NBA draft. The 19-year-old and his father LeBron will be the first father-son duo in league history.
On the other hand, fans expressed their frustrations about the Lakers front office as they have yet to trade for a star to add to their roster.
“Lakers adding pieces but no good players,” said one fan.
“Well they can add coaches. Wonder if any can play D and shoot,” said another fan,
“Bro where the player signing or trades smh 🤦♂️,” said another fan.
Harding will join an experienced coaching staff behind Redick, including Nate McMillan, Scott Brooks, and Garry St. Jean. The Lakers are revamping their coaching staff after firing former head coach Darvin Ham and his assistant coaches following a first-round exit last season.
JJ Redick's staff continues to fill up but team remains quiet on free agency front
Now with Harding, Brooks, McMillan, and St. Jean, JJ Redick has a veteran staff to help him navigate through his first season as a coach in the NBA.
However, the team has yet to add pieces in their roster for the next season, missing out on top free agents in the offseason such as Klay Thompson, DeMar DeRozan, and Paul George.
Aside from extending LeBron James’ contract, the only other transaction the Lakers made so far was to extend young player Max Christie and sign rookies Knecht and Bronny.
With a full roster already, the Lakers are likely to lean on trading players if they are set to shuffle their roster in the coming season.
Some players rumored to be on the trade block are D’Angelo Russell, Rui Hacimura, and Austin Reaves.
