Fans denounce Nick Young's pro-American tweet

Former NBA guard Nick Young was one of the many people to react to the Minnesota Timberwolves taking down the Denver Nuggets. However, his comments were not met with a warm reaction from fans.

In a post he made on X (formerly Twitter), Young was ecstatic to see Anthony Edwards & Co. advance to the conference finals. In his eyes, it was a sign that American players were taking back control of the NBA.

Nick Young's remark was not met with warm comments from fans. Many called out the former champion for his "xenophobic" statement towards Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets.

"At least they're stating it explicitly now," one fan said.

Some fans pointed out to Young that his thoughts were flawed. While the Timberwolves advanced, there are still a handful of international stars competing for a title. Most notably, Dallas Mavericks All-Star Luka Doncic.

"Nick the best player left is Luka…." one fan said.
"Luka is literally in the conference finals," another fan said.
"Bro acting like Luka, Rudy, Kristaps, Al, Kyrie, Green, Kleber and Siakam aren’t on the final 4 teams. Cant believe Dot is related to his moron," said one fan.

It's also worth noting that, while the Timberwolves' star player is American, some of their other best players are from other countries. Rudy Gobert, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, is French, whereas Karl-Anthony Towns' family is from the Dominican Republic.

Nick Young has made countless comments regarding foreign NBA players

This is far from the first time Nick Young has made comments regarding foreign and domestic NBA players. The journeyman guard has made countless posts speaking out against international talent.

During these playoffs, Young complained that the league was trying to set up a postseason matchup between Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic. He was also angry at the NBA for not suspending Jamal Murray after his incident with a heatpack.

"NBA love they joker that’s crazy 100k that’s it’s … im throwing a hot pack at the ref head next game and they better not tech me or eject me .. or im suing," Young said on X.
"The want jokers vs luka so bad they messing up," Young also said.

The only time Nick Young has spoken positively is when breaking down American players. He wants to see Anthony Edwards and Jayson Tatum face off in the NBA Finals, with the winner earning a starting place in the Olympics this summer.

"Ant vs Jt in the finals whoever win get the starting spot on the Olympic team," Young said.

Young's statements have lumped him in the same company as Gilbert Arenas, who once blatantly said the NBA needs to get rid of all the European players.
