Giannis Antetokounmpo booked his trip to the 2024 Paris Olympics after helping Greece win the qualifiers against Croatia on Sunday. Antetokounmpo got emotional after that moment as Greece's men's basketball team had been eluded of an Olympic berth since 2008. It will be his first time in the Olympics.
He shared an image with his son cheering for him while he shed a tear to express his emotions. Giannis captioned the tweet:
"I have never cheat the game.. See you in Paris"

Fans instantly tried decoding Giannis' message. Many assumed it was related to him continuing to play for an inferior Greek team over seeking citizenship to play for a stronger team, possibly the USA.
Some trolls used this tweet to call out Joel Embiid. The Philadelphia 76ers star ditched the chance to play for Cameroon, his birth country, and decided to play for Team USA instead. Embiid also chose the USA over France.
Here are the reactions calling out Embiid on Giannis' tweet:
"Embiid can't say the same," one fan wrote in the comments.
"COOKED EMFLOP," another fan added.
"Holy cook," said one fan.
"Put Embiid's picture up there, That is who he is talkin about," one fan tweeted.
Giannis Antetokounmpo and Greece find place in stacked Group A
Giannis Antetokounmpo and Greece are in a stacked Group A, including the star-studded Canadian team, European heavyweights Spain and NBA talent-infused Australian side in the Paris Olympics. Only two of the four teams will advance to the next round.
It will be a stern test for Giannis to get Greece over the hump. Canada presents the biggest threat, with players like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jamal Murray leading their charge. Meanwhile, Spain has several superstars from the Euro League who have been playing together for years. Australia won the bronze medal last time and has plenty of talented players from the NBA.
Aside from Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Greeks don't have many renowned names, especially among NBA circles. However, their chemistry seemed solid in the FIBA Olympic Qualifiers, where they went unbeaten in four games to clinch their first Olympic berth since 2008.
Giannis and Co. beat Croatia and Luka Doncic's Slovenia in the knockout rounds by significant margins. Giannis looked healthy as ever, which could be alarming for their rival teams in Group A. When in form, not many have an answer to his exploits on the court on both ends.
