Skip Bayless dubs Kyrie Irving as ‘Batman’ & Luka Doncic as ‘Robin’ for Dallas Mavericks

At the trade deadline, Kyrie Irving was one of the biggest names to wind up on a new team. After requesting to be dealt from the Brooklyn Nets, the All-Star guard found himself heading to the Dallas Mavericks.

Irving has played alongside some incredible talents in his career and now has a new MVP-level co-star. Alongside Luka Doncic, the two have become one of the top offensive duos in the NBA right now.

When Irving was first traded to Dallas, many wondered how the two star guards could make it work. The Mavericks are clearly Luka's team, although one analyst sees it a different way.

On FS1's "Undisputed," Skip Bayless gave his thoughts on Irving being the new alpha for Dallas:

"I'm seeing Batman Kyrie and Robin Luka. Luka has just forefited his superstar card. ... Luka is Mr. Three Quarters while Kyrie is Mr. Fourth Quarter."

Through his first 10 games with the Mavericks, Irving is averaging 27.6 points, 5.0 rebounds and 6.9 assists.

Skip Bayless might not feel this way, but Luka Doncic is still the top guy for the Dallas Mavericks. Kyrie Irving might have some big late-game performances as of late, but everyone knows who the team's true superstar is.

Outside of his hot start to the season, the past two months have been some of Luka's best this year. In the month of March, he is averaging 35.0 ppg, 7.7 rpg and 7.3 apg. Even with a new star entering the fold, Luka is still one of the NBA's most productive players.

When high-level talents comes together on the fly, growing pains are expected. That is what we are seeing now as the Dallas Mavericks try to make it work with their new duo. Irving was already one of the league's top fourth-quarter scorers, so it's not surprising he's already had some late-game takeovers on his new team.

Come the postseason, it will become clear who "Batman" is on the Mavericks. We've already seen countless big performances from Luka in the playoffs, and the addition of Irving likely won't change that.

Throughout his career, Irving has thrived as the "second guy" on top teams. He did so with LeBron James in Cleveland and Kevin Durant in Brooklyn. It seems unlikely that he'll try to change gears in Dallas as this is a contract year for him.
