Skip Bayless goes after LeBron James for his poor shooting performance in LA Lakers' win: "LeBron LeBricked again and again down the stretch and in overtime"

Skip Bayless did not waste much time going after LeBron James despite the LA Lakers pulling off a nerve-wracking win against the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday. The Lakers won 120-117 in overtime with the LA Lakers' superstar finishing with 20 points. However, he shot just 9-of-23 from the floor and was 0-for-7 from 3-point territory.

The longtime NBA analyst and sports commentator tweeted soon after the game was over:

"LeBron LeBricked again and again down the stretch and in overtime - 0-7 in all from three. And the Pels out-gagged him, needing only one free throw to win, missing both."

It was Australian rookie Dyson Daniels who missed the opportunity to win the game for the Pelicans in regulation. With the Pelicans leading by three (108-111), Daniels missed both of his free throw attempts with 1.6 seconds left in the game.

The Lakers then managed to send the game into overtime after Matt Ryan made a tough corner triple just as the game clock expired.

The Lakers outscored their opponents 9-6 in the extra five minutes to win the contest. It was only the second win of the season for the 2020 NBA champions and their second consecutive win after they beat the Denver Nuggets on Sunday.

Irrespective of the criticism of his 3-point shooting, LeBron James put up a near triple-double as the LA Lakers beat the New Orleans Pelicans. LeBron had 10 rebounds and eight assists to go with his 20 points. This was on a night when he continued playing despite being weighed down by a non-covid illness.

Speaking to the media after the game, the four-time Finals MVP said there was “something going around” that hit him badly. According to NBA reporter Dave McMenamin, James was bed-ridden from the Nuggets game until today due to illness. This even caused him to miss the team's Halloween party.

What helped the 18-time All-Star on Wednesday was some quality support from his teammates. Anthony Davis, who appeared to have reinjured his back against the Nuggets on Sunday, posted a monster double-double with 20 points and 16 rebounds. Davis had five offensive rebounds and four blocks to his credit as well.

Lonnie Walker IV also had his best outing as a Laker in the win against the Pelicans. He shot 5-of-9 from distance to finish with a season-high 28 points.

Russell Westbrook, too, had another strong game. The former league MVP finished with 13 points, nine assists and seven rebounds on 60% shooting in his third successive game off the bench.

Anthony Davis was buoyant after the Lakers posted back-to-back wins. He told the media:

"We know that our defense is doing it's job. We just need our offense to catch up. It's starting to click. We're starting to find things, finding rotations, finding situations where we're really good and guys are staying ready, coming in and playing well. We are starting to put everything together. "
