Steph Curry game recap vs. Boston Celtics
The Warriors didn't get the start they wanted. They trailed 14-3 into the game's first timeout with 7:21 left in the first quarter.
Curry, until that point, had three points, a rebound and a turnover. His three points came off an and-1 chance. The Warriors came out swinging out of the timeout, going on a 7-0 run into the second timeout with 2:47 left. Curry and the Dubs picked up their defensive intensity. The two-time MVP added three assists to his box score in that span. Curry exited the game at that point as scheduled. He returned to play the final 17 seconds.
Curry played fewer minutes, as planned, in the second quarter. He played an initiator and decoy primarily, with Derrick White doing an excellent job denying him the ball. However, the Warriors didn't need Curry in a scoring role, Buddy Hield and others fired on all cylinders.
Curry excellently helped open the floor for them with his astute passing and movement. He attempted only one shot in the entire quarter and made it. Curry added three steals and three assists, helping the Warriors take a 51-40 halftime lead.
The third quarter saw Curry get on the score sheet with a higher frequency as he scored 11 points in the opening 10 minutes of the second half. Curry shot 3 of 6, making three more trips to the foul line while shooting two more 3-pointers.
However, the Warriors suffered a setback after nearly losing their 14-point lead by the end of the quarter as the Celtics trimmed that margin to one entering the final quarter.
The Warriors trailed by as many as seven points but the Warriors held their ground to restore the lead and win 118-112.
Steph Curry added 21 of his 27 points in the second half. He went 6 of 14 in that span and 3 of 3 from the free-throw line. Curry had three assists, too.
