Steve Kerr confirms Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins won’t feature in Brooklyn Nets game

Golden State Warriors v New York Knicks
Klay Thompson in action for the Golden State Warriors

Steve Kerr confirmed that Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins will be unavailable for the upcoming game against the Brooklyn Nets. Considering the dismal state of the roster already, the Golden State Warriors find themselves in a vulnerable position.

The Warriors emerged as champions after an incredible playoff run last season. Considering that the team were on a high and were also brimming with young energy, it seemed like they were in a solid position to repeat their title success.

However, after a horrendous start to the season paired with an even more disappointing showing on the road, the Warriors look nowhere near being title contenders.

With Steph Curry missing time due to a shoulder injury, Steve Kerr is also without a vital piece of his roster. With regards to the team's upcoming back-to-back matchup against the Brooklyn Nets, Kerr revealed that Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins would be unavailable for the game. When asked about Wiggins' return, he said:

"I think it's doubtful. I was actually thinking about next home game. So very doubtful that he would play tomorrow given that we have three days, four days before that Christmas game. It makes sense to keep him out and just give him a few more days to make sure that he's ready to go."

When asked about Thompson's status for the game against Brooklyn, Kerr promptly responded by saying:

"Klay won't be playing tomorrow."

While Thompson's status for back-to-back fixtures has been questionable since his return from injury, the Warriors will miss Wiggins.

Steve Kerr's Golden State Warriors are riddled with flaws

At this point in the season, it almost goes without saying that the Golden State Warriors are flawed. While the Warriors' season record of 15-17 appears to be salvageable, their away record of 3-15 is beyond terrible.

Many factors contribute to the Dubs' inability to succeed on the road. The recent troubles with the shorthanded roster, on the other hand, have been the icing on the cake.

Several things have gone wrong for Golden State since their title run. For starters, the Warriors have not witnessed the necessary progress from their young players. Dubs' youth, particularly Jonathan Kuminga and James Wiseman, have not performed well.

Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green continue to be effective for the Golden State Warriors. But aside from Curry, the toll of numerous titles and injuries is beginning to show.

With the Golden State Warriors vying for a postseason place, Steve Kerr and the Warriors may face further hurdles as the season unfolds.
