LeBron James delivered a heartfelt message for A'ja Wilson after the Las Vegas Aces star bagged a new WNBA record on Wednesday against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever. Wilson passed Jewell Lloyd's single-season scoring record, taking her tally to 956 points for the year, registering the record in her name.
James lauded her latest milestone with a fitting congratulatory message as Wilson posted about it on her X feed.
"STRAIGHT Buckets!!! CONGRATULATIONS SIS! Love to see it!!!"

James and Wilson's relationship goes back to the latter's college days. The Lakers star has mentored the WNBA superstar since then and has frequently shown love for her achievements in the league. Wilson often wears the NBA legend's signature shoes, too.
Coincidentally, she was donning a pair of Nike LeBron 21 PEs when she broke the WNBA season scoring record. A'ja Wilson scored 27 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, with two steals and three blocks to lead the Aces to an 86-75 win over Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever.
It wasn't her most efficient game, as she shot 11 of 28, but it was enough to get the job done against one of the best teams in the league since the season resumed. The Aces improved to 23-13. They are seated fourth in the standings with four games left in the season.
LeBron James has crowned A'ja Wilson as the best player in WNBA
LeBron James has no doubts in his mind that A'ja Wilson is the best player in the WNBA. James shared his thoughts about this during Team USA's Olympic preparations while discussing Wilson's stellar MVP-caliber run.
"She's the best player in the WNBA," James told reporters on July 7 (via Landon Buford).
LeBron James also considers the Aces to be in the running for a third title despite their shaky run this season. Las Vegas, a two-time defending champion, is 23-13 on the season and placed fourth.
However, the Aces haven't strung together a convincing campaign since the beginning. They have had spurts of great basketball, but with other teams catching up in talent and having the right pieces, the Aces have looked as beatable as ever since 2022.
Nevertheless, their chances of three-peating remain intact with Wilson on the team. She is playing at an unprecedented level, outclassing her counterparts nightly. With the Aces and her championship pedigree, it's tough to not favor Las Vegas in the postseason.
