Team USA vs South Sudan was the final game for men's basketball in the 2024 Olympics on July 31st. After an exciting matchup during the showcase games, these two now battle it out on the grand stage.
Both of these teams entered Wednesday coming off big wins in their opening matchup. The United States took down Serbia in convincing fashion, while South Sudan was able to secure a double-digit victory against Puerto Rico.
When these teams last played, Team USA escaped with a one-point victory. However, it was a much different story the second time around. Thanks to production from up and down the roster, the United States was able to secure another double-digit win. They ended up walking out of their rematch with South Sudan with a 103-86 victory.

Round two of Team USA vs South Sudan played out very differently than their meeting in the showcase games. The star-studded roster established a big lead early and managed to keep their opponents at bay for the full 40 minutes.
The main standout for the United States in this victory was Miami Heat big man Bam Adebayo. He provided a ton of energy off the bench and didn't miss his first shot until the second half. Adebayo went on to finish the game with a team-high 18 points on stellar 80% shooting from the field.
Kevin Durant was a major talking point in the United State's win over Serbia and had another impressive show vs South Sudan. His efficiency wasn't the same as last game, but he was still Team USA's second-leading scorer with 14 points. LeBron James also did his part, tallying 12 points, seven rebounds and five assists.
South Sudan fought hard, but it wasn't enough to match the firepower of Team USA. They now fall to 1-1 through two Group Phase games. The key standout for South Sudan in this matchup was Nuni Omot. He provided the biggest scoring punch, finishing with a game-high 24 points. Carlik Jones also continues to impress, recording 18 points and seven assists against the United States.
Following their win over South Sudan, Team USA will look to go 3-0 on Saturday when they take on Puerto Rico.
