Karl Malone was back in the public eye over the weekend at the 2023 NBA All-Star Game at Salt Lake City, Utah. Malone's controversial past resurfaced, including impregnating a 13-year-old girl when he was in college and how he was a terrible father to Daryl and Cheryl Ford.

Malone was 17 when Daryl and Cheryl were born to a woman named Bonita Ford. It took more than a decade before the Utah Jazz legend accepted the twins into his life and formed a relationship with them.

However, Malone wasn't a part of Demetress Bell's life growing up. He's the son of the 13-year-old girl he got pregnant when Malone was still studying at LSU. He got in touch with Bell years later in 2014, and the two have formed a relationship ever since.

Karl Malone opened up about his children in a 2018 interview with The Deseret News. Malone was full of regret that he was unable to become a father to three of his seven children. He has four kids with Kay Kinsey, who married him in 1990.

"I didn't handle it right," Malone said. "I was wrong, but I'm not going to every time I see you try to go back and make up for it because you can't. Father Time is the biggest thief that's out there, and you can’t get that back. And we have a great relationship, but I'm still Dad, Pops, or Paw or whatever they want to call me. My grandkids call me Paw Paw."

Nevertheless, fans took to social media to remind everyone that Malone is not a great father figure to Demetress Bell, Daryl and Cheryl Ford.

Karl Malone discussed the controversies of his past that recently resurfaced following his appearance at the 2023 NBA All-Star Game. He told The Salt Lake Tribune that he doesn't care about the negative things people say about him.

"I'm not discussing any of that backlash," Malone said. "I don't care. That's my life; that's my personal life, and I'll deal with that like I've had to deal with everything. So, whatever. Whatever, I'm human."
