Memphis Grizzlies will wear NBA throwback jerseys in 2024-25 season
Before the beginning of the 2024-25 NBA season, the Memphis Grizzlies declared they would be wearing their classic jerseys while playing on their hardwood design to honor the Vancouver roots. This was to celebrate the franchise's 30th anniversary.
The Grizzlies was founded in 1995 and started out in Vancouver. After six seasons in the NBA, the franchise relocated to Memphis and remained in that city for the past 24 years.
So far, we've seen the Grizzlies put on their throwback jerseys at home. They debuted the classic uniform during their opening game at home against the Orlando Magic.
Other NBA teams rumored to bring back throwback jerseys
When Tyrese Maxey signed a max deal with the Philadelphia 76ers earlier this summer, the organization uploaded a tribute video for the young All-Star on social media. In that tribute video was what seems to be the classic 2000s black Sixers jersey, famously worn by Allen Iverson.
There was a portion in a video that had Maxey on the cover of SLAM magazine sporting the classic jersey. The quote on the front cover of the magazine read:
"The fans asked & Philly answered 76ers classic edition."
While it seems like the 76ers will bring these jerseys back, sources reported that it won't be happening this 2024-25 season. But the good news is, it's in the organization's plans.
