The Atlanta Hawks received a major boost with Trae Young listed as available ahead of their Emirates NBA Cup showdown against the Cleveland Cavaliers at State Farm Arena on Friday. The mercurial guard has been dealing with an Achilles injury but has been upgraded to probable according to the NBA's latest available injury report.
Young comes off a brilliant game against Cleveland earlier this week as he blitzed 20 points and dished out a whopping 22 assists to hand the Cavaliers a solid 135-124 loss at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. He is now in the spotlight as it's round 2 between the two sides.
The guard has been in All-Star form this season averaging 21.8 points and 12.5 assists per game, and his status of 'expected to play' gives Atlanta a chance to climb up the Eastern Conference points ladder. At the time of writing, Cody Zeller (not with the team) is the only other Hawks player listed as out in the injury report.

Trae Young stats vs Cleveland Cavaliers
It has been a good team to prop up points against as Trae Young averages 25.4 points, 2.8 rebounds and 9.8 assists in 19 games against the Cavaliers in his career. The Hawks guard, playing in his seventh year in the league had his best performance against the Cavs in 2018.
Young dropped 35 points and 11 assists in their 133-111 demolition of the Kevin Love-led Cavaliers side in October 2018. His double-double saw him go 13-23 from the field and 6-14 from the deep. He also recorded two boards and a steal as the Atlanta Hawks ended with a 22-point win. Kent Bazemore and Taurean Prince chipped in with 23 and 14 points each.
Young has been a trade rumor staple throughout the last season and is still looked at as one of the top coveted names in the trade deadline. That said, he continues to increase his stock value trying to get Atlanta to the .500 mark. The side is 8-11 at the time of writing and snapped a three-game losing streak with their recent win against Cleveland.
Trae Young and the Hawks have a challenging slate of games coming up as they take on the Milwaukee Bucks, LA Lakers, and the Denver Nuggets in their next five games. Much of their hopes to win and climb up past their current ninth-seed standings depends on their star guard's health and availability.
