One of the New York Knicks' major goals this offseason is to find a new head coach. The team had a good thing going with Tom Thibodeau, the coach who led them to the Eastern Conference finals in 25 years. However, they fired him after their playoff elimination by the Indiana Pacers.
To replace Thibodeau, the Knicks have knocked on the doors of various teams around the league. They've asked the Dallas Mavericks, Minnesota Timberwolves, Houston Rockets and Atlanta Hawks to interview their head coaches. However, all four organizations have denied New York's request.
The latest team that the Knicks have reached out to is the Hawks. The team was hopeful to interview head coach Quin Snyder. However, the organization's run of poor luck has persisted.

On Wednesday, ESPN's Shams Charania confirmed New York's 0-for-4 attempts in trying to get an interview for their vacant position.

Former NBA star Kevin Garnett had something to say about New York's bad luck.
"Every time the Knicks ask for permission to interview 😭😭😭 This is crazy," Garnett said.
Many fans also chimed in on the franchise's search for a new head coach.
"Very grateful the knicks are trying to keep dirty macking alive," a fan commented.
"They’re collecting denied interviews like infinity stones," another wrote.
Others pointed out how the Knicks didn't have a plan after firing Thibodeau.
"So they fired their coach with absolutely no plan for the next hit except pray some team lets theirs go?" a fan asked.
"This is becoming embarrassing for the New York Knicks. Maybe should've not fired Thibs so soon," a comment read.
"fired thibs with no plan LMAO," one fan remarked.
Former New York Knicks head coach shows appreciation following his firing
In the five seasons that Tom Thibodeau has been the head coach for the New York Knicks, he has elevated the team to great heights. However, even with the work he put into leading the franchise, they decided to move on from him.
On Wednesday, the former head coach took an entire page for advertising in the New York Times to send a message. It was a heartfelt and appreciative letter to the franchise and the fans who have remained unconditionally loyal.
"To the best city in the world with the best fans in the world: Thank you," Thibodeau wrote.
“When I was hired in 2020, I said this was my dream job. I am grateful that dreams became a reality. Thank you to our players and coaching staff who gave everything they had, and to everyone who makes this franchise special."
Thibodeau had three years left with New York after signing a contract extension in 2024.
