NBA legend Charles Barkley and Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts made a bet back in 2017.

Charles Barkley told the young football star that if his Alabama Crimson Tide lost to the Auburn Tigers, Jalen Hurts would have to wear a Tigers jersey on campus. Hurts then wagered that Barkley should wear a Crimson Tide jersey live on air if his team won.

Ultimately, the Alabama Crimson Tide lost to the Auburn Tigers, which meant Barkley won the bet. However, the Crimson Tide eventually beat the Georgia Bulldogs for the title, making Alabama the champions that season. In the end, Hurts had the last laugh and humorously flexed his trophy to Chuck.

Hurts is a man of his word and held up his side of the bargain by filming a video of himself sporting the Tigers jersey. What made the short video satisfying was when he grabbed his bag with the trophy packed inside it.

Without a doubt, it was Hurts' way of saying that he may have lost the bet but at least he had won a championship. It was a subtle jab at Barkley, who never won an NBA championship.

Charles Barkley has been an analyst for Turner Sports since 2000. He has worked for TNT's "Inside the NBA" for more than two decades and earns approximately $10 million a year.

Barkley currently has three more years remaining on his contract but was recently offered an extension. Due to speculation that Chuck may leave TNT for LIV Golf, Turner Sports wanted to avoid the prospect of losing Barkley and offered him a new contract on a whim.

According to the New York Post, his new contract is worth over $100 million and will last for 10 years. The new deal will be effective once his current contract expires in 2025. Chuck went on the record to say that he never spoke to Turner about any contract extensions.

In fact, he was baffled by their offer and realized that the company could've been nervous about his future decisions. Who wouldn't be?

"Inside the NBA" with Charles Barkley, Ernie Johnson, Shaquille O'Neal and Kenny Smith has been a huge success. Getting rid of one of them could ruin a dynamic that works so well with the audience.

There is no confirmation yet regarding how much Barkley could make from his new contract. However, since he is considering retiring at 60, Turner Sports might offer him figures he can't refuse. It is possible that the initial $100 million that's being reported could go up to $200 million if push comes to shove.
