LeBron James posted a throwback video of former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate Kyrie Irving dropping a 50-piece against the San Antonio Spurs. The seven-year-old clip was posted on the NBA's official Instagram account. James reposted it on his Instagram story and captioned it saying:

"I had the best seat in the house to watch his greatness"

Here are the highlights of that monstrous outing from Irving:

Kyrie Irving scored 57 points during that contest. He put in an efficient shift, making 20 of his 32 shots from the floor, including seven of seven from three-point range. Irving also converted all ten of his free throw attempts. LeBron James played a solid cameo, tallying 31 points and seven assists on 50% shooting.

The Cleveland Cavaliers recorded a close 128-125 win over the then-defending champions, San Antonio Spurs, who had a starting five that featured Kawhi Leonard, Tim Duncan and Tony Parker.

The Cavaliers, led by Irving and James' heroics, won the Eastern Conference, making an NBA Finals appearance in the duo's first season together. However, Cleveland couldn't capitalize on their partnership in the finals, as Irving was sidelined due to an injury after the first game and the Cavs ended up losing the series 2-4 against the Golden State Warriors.

Nevertheless, LeBron James and Kyrie Irving pulled off one of the most unthinkable feats the following season, overturning a 1-3 deficit to win the 2016 NBA Finals against the Warriors to win their first and only title as teammates.

LeBron James and Kyrie Irving dropped 50 points in their recent games

LeBron James and Kyrie Irving have continued to display their talents years down the line. The duo scored 50 points in a game for their respective teams last week. James had multiple 50-point outings. The first one came on March 5th against the Golden State Warriors, when he scored 56 points on 61.3% shooting and the most recent one was against the Wizards when dropped 50 points on 72% shooting on March 11th.

Irving, meanwhile, recorded a 50-point game as well against the Charlotte Hornets on March 8th. The Nets guard shot 78.9% from the floor. Irving is only eligible to play games on the road this season due to his vaccination status. Despite that, the former NBA champion has thrived in his limited games and continues to be a difference-maker for the Brooklyn Nets.

LeBron James' LA Lakers and Kyrie Irving's Brooklyn Nets were the favorites to make the NBA Finals this year. While both teams currently find themselves in the play-in tournament spots, it is unlikely that fans will get to witness the two former teammates fight for the title in a seven-game series this year.
